As i've promised, i shall talk about maintaining a healthy lifestyle todae... Well, not that i'm so much of a health freak, but i think it realli pays to be health-conscious nowadaes.
1. Milk and cheese
These are rich sources of calcium, which is especially impt for females as they r more prone to suffer from osteoporosis. I once heard from a radio show that the amt of calcium that females take in before age 30, is the amt of calcium that's gonna last them for the rest of their lives. So we better take in more calcium while we r still young! I personally dun realli like milk, and the onli type i drink is the powder form (i'll get a bad stomachache if i drink fresh milk). Thus, i turn to cheese much more often... I use cheese in my sandwiches, eat it by its own, and even use it to cook vermicelli (my dad invented that, and it's yummylicious!)... It's a bit salty though, so i always drink plenty of water after eating it.
2. Wheatgrass juice
This is the latest fad recently, and it's almost becoming a 2nd bubble tea... So many ppl r drinking it and claiming that it's realli healthy and amazing and wat's not. Indeed, wheatgrass juice is a veri good drink, and its benefits include improving complexion, cleansing the liver, lowering blood pressure etc... My mum started buying this wheatgrass grass wif lime juice recently, and it doesn't taste that awful actualli... So for those who haven't tried it, do give it a try!
3. Yoghurt
This is sth i started eating recently! I used to hate it coz it tasted too milky, but now i love it coz i totally love the sour taste! Yoghurt is an excellent source of calcium and protein, and it oso benefits ur immune system and regulates blood pressure. A veri healthy dairy product!
4. Vegetables and fruits
These are essential in our everyday life as they r rich in vitamin C. The bez wae to eat vegetables is to eat it fresh and raw, and even if u hafta cook it, juz cook it lightly or blanch it. As for fruits, papaya, strawberry and orange have one of the highest vitamin C content, so it's good to eat more of them!
5. Yoga and pilates
I wanna try both of these, but i simply dun have the time and money to learn. =( Yoga, the more common of the two, promotes inner peace and mental clarity on one hand, and on the other, results in greater flexibility, strength, and even weight loss. As for pilates, it improves mental focus, relieves stress and tension through deep stretching, promotes recovery from strain or injury and can even result in a more svelte and contoured body line. Wow...
For me, i'm turning into a part-time ovo-lacto vegetarian (a vegetarian that eats eggs and dairy products) nowadaes... Y part-time? Coz being the food-lover that i am, i still can't resist meat! But nowadaes i'm cutting down a lot on my meat intake, and for lunch, i try to abstain from meat and eat tofu or egg instead. I'm oso increasing my intake of vegetables and fruits, esp vegetables like xiao bai cai, cabbage and tomato! Yay i'm a healthy baby! =P
