Singaporeans have too much sympathy... This was sth that i came to realise last nite. They have so much sympathy, to the extent that can pool enough sympathy votes to make Mr Blind Man (Kelvin Tan Wei Lian) the male champion of Project SuperStar.

Firstly, let me state this. I've nothing against Mr Blind Man, in fact, he was the 1st contestant whom i took note of when Project SuperStar 1st started. However, his nasal voice (bi3 yin1) problem became more and more disturbing as the competition heats up, to the extent that i found it agonising to hear him sing... I had felt (and i still feel) that he is definitely not ranked among the top 3 (within the male contestants) in terms of vocals.

So imagine the shock that i felt last nite when he kicked out Hong Junyang, the hot fav, to win the overall male champion. (For those who dunno, the results r based 30% on judges' scores, and a whopping 70% on fans' votes.) I felt that it's totally unfair to Junyang, as he's the one who's deserving of the champion title. Wat on earth was Singapore thinking?! Let me list down 4 main reasons y Junyang, and not Mr Blind Man, shld have won...

1. Junyang has much better vocals than Wei Lian. In fact, Derrick (the guy whom i've supported all along) sings much better than Wei Lian as well, but he was eliminated due to the sheer amt of sympathy votes that has been casted for Wei Lian last week.

2. Junyang looks better. Enuff said.

3. Junyang has better stage presence.

4. The judges agree that Junyang is the better performer.

Did u realise i din sae that Wei Lian shld not have won coz he's blind? That's my whole point. If Wei Lian was the one wif the better vocals, regardless of his disability, i wld still have voted for him. But the fact is, he din. He was the not the better performer among the 2. Which is y this is so unfair. I feel so sorrie for Junyang... He lost the same wae Derrick did - due to the overwhelming no. of sympathy votes casted for Mr Blind Man. *shakes head*

(In case u wanna sae that i'm biased and all, i shall state this: I'm not a fan of Junyang. The onli male contestant i support is Derrick, and no one else.)

I oso smell a conspiracy going on here.. Is Mediacorp trying to prove a point? That they can actualli declare a blind man as the winner? Coz there's been so much rumours going ard about how Mediacorp wun allow Wei Lian to win coz he's visually impaired... So r they trying to dispel the rumours by showing that they can realli do it? Nobody knoes.

On a lighter note, i'm realli glad that Kelly (the female contestant that i've supported all along) won, although i do admit that last nite's performance was certainly not her bez. I feel that Xinhui did better than her last nite, but her designated song (the one she got 44 pts for) was a bit too overrated. She din put her emotions into the song i think. Perhaps the judges juz wanted to commend her for her effort ba.

Whatever the case, I'm gonna start setting aside more money to vote for Kelly during the finals on 1st Sept. Simply coz, she's worth it. And she ought to be the jue2 dui4 superstar. =)
