Memories of Taipei Part 2
On the second dae, we chanced upon an
Eslite Bookstore (Cheng2 Pin3 Shu1 Dian4) while we were exploring ard... To all book lovers,
Eslite is the place to go! (Do visit its
24-hour flagship branch at Tunhua South Road!) Browsing in a bookstore has never been such a
relaxing experience... =) I left wif 3 chinese books on hand, and they cost less than
S$30 in total! Happy!
Following that, we went in search of Serene's fav
voodoo dolls... We finally found the Zhongxiao branch after an intensive search! U can take a look at the cute voodoo dolls
here!
In the afternoon, we went to
Wu Fen Pu. If u r going to Taipei to shop, u
must make this ur veri first stop. There r
millions of shops along the streets and alleys, all selling the latest, trendiest fashion at
wholesale prices. It's juz like Bugis Street, albeit
100 times bigger. It's hard not to get lost within the rows and rows of shops... We literally shopped till we dropped!
(I'm sorrie i've no pics of Wu Fen Pu...)At nite, we went to
Raohe Street Nite Market, which was just a 5-min walk from Wu Fen Pu!
This is the other nite mkt (other than Shilin Nite Mkt) that is worth visiting! There r many food stalls and shops selling clothes, shoes etc... I juz love the
atmosphere of nite mkts!
On the left was the stall that we ate at... We had oyster omelette and smelly beancurd (chou tofu)! I fell in love wif
chou tofu after my first try... It's realli delicious! =)
On the third dae, we woke up bright and early to "conquer"
Yang Ming Shan. As i'm not a fan of mountain-climbing, the uphill task seemed particularly arduous. After lots of hiking and climbing, we finally reached our destination - the
Juan Si Waterfall!
We got lost as we tried to make our way out to the nearest bus stop. But hey, it was a blessing in disguise after all! We took the route less travelled and eventually found ourselves in a
misty paradise... The scenery was
breathtaking!
For a moment, we tot we were in
heaven! In front of us was a nice little hut, in the middle of a grassland, surrounded by mountain fog... On our right was a pavilion, wif an old couple sitting there and enjoying their picnic... Wat a heavenly sight!
After going back to our hotel and having some rest, we went to Xi Men Ding again at nite. We ate the famous
Ah Zong Mee Sua for dinner (we ate that the dae before too)!
I personally did not like it as much as our local Shilin Mee Sua. I dun like
pig intestines (zhu1 chang2) in my mee sua! And where r my fav
oysters?!
After dinner and a few hrs of shopping, we head to our fav place (or rather my fav place) -
CashBox PartyWorld KTV! When we first stepped into the lobby, we'd tot that we were in a 5-star hotel... The place looks extremely
grand and posh!
(Sorrie, no pics again.) We did not have a fantastic time though, as we were all too tired after a dae of mountain-climbing...

Memories of Taipei Part 1
Taipei. A cosmopolitan yet traditional city. A perfect
fusion of the old and the new.
I
love every single bit of this city. The culture, the food, the shopping... And not forgetting, the
ppl. The ppl here r great! They r
warm, friendly, have high service standards, and most importantly, they r kind and
considerate. They will not hesitate to help u wif directions when u r feeling lost. They give up their seats to the elderly the moment they see them
stepping into the train. And guez wat, they do not need any
sign that says "Please stand towards your right" to remind them to give way to other passengers.
Taipei is oso a veri
environmentally-friendly city. Dustbins everywhere double up as recycle bins, wif compartments for paper, plastic, metal and "general rubbish", as they termed it. If u were shopping in 7 Eleven and u asked for a carrier for ur purchase (regardless of how many things u bought), u'll hafta pay
NT$1 for each carrier! The same applies for all other shops, though most shops will at least give u a small carrier when u buy sth. (Hmmm they shld realli carry this out in Singapore too. Imagine the number of plastic bags that could be saved!)
Now for the
highlights of my trip...
We visited
Xi Men Ding on the first nite (we onli reached Taipei at ard 5.30pm in the evening). I marveled at the vibrant shopping atmosphere, the brightly-lit shops along the streets and alleys... It was, after all, the
shopping paradise for Taiwanese youngsters.
Shopping at Xi Men Ding was an absolutely
sinful experience. There were so many different shops selling all kinds of stuff! Our favourite shop was this nice little candy shop called
Sophisca. There were so many kinds of chocolates and sweets on sale, all packaged creatively and beautifully. We were totally spoilt for choices.
Guess wat is
this?
Sanitary napkins? Wrong! It's actualli a pack of
marshmallows from Sophisca! =)

wonderful city, filled wif surprises everywhere. The scenery, the shopping, the ppl, the food, the variety of TV shows... I

I juz love
Taipei so much. I realli wish to stay there and not come home... Perhaps i shld juz
migrate there for good.

I'm still feeling
blue...
When i was in Orchard yest, almost all the malls reminded me of my
Charlie's Angels. DFS Galleria, Tangs, Paragon etc etc... I immed msged my angels to tell them that i
miss them.
When i was on the bus todae, i saw a lady wearing the SIA staff uniform.
Changi. I miss Changi.
I no longer hafta wake up early tmr. But no, i dun feel happy at all. Y does my life feel so
empty...

The dae is
over. No big farewell session. No teary moments. But i'm
sadder than ever.
All i can do is to look back at the
wonderful memories i have of all of us in Changi. Sweet sweet
memories. If onli i can turn back time...
Dearest angels, i
miss u all so much! I'm having PA-withdrawal symptoms already... Wat shld i do?

Tmr is officially the
last dae of PA. Depression mode:
100%.
I dunno wat will i do or sae tmr... Maybe i'll even
cry. I hate to sae goodbyes...
These 10 weeks have been so
memorable for me. And when we all part our ways tmr, we can
never go back to the same again. And that saddens me.
Argh i dun wanna continue writing le... Feel like tearing already. I shall rest early and try my bez to enjoy my last dae tmr. Before we bid each other
adieu...

2 days left to the end of PA. I'm starting to feel more and more depressed.
I dun want PA to end. I dun wanna start sch. I dun wanna go into Year 3. I dun wanna do
FYP. I dun wanna go through such a
tough year ahead.
I'll miss so many things here at Changi. I'll miss all the nice little surprises in the transit mall. I'll miss all the ppl here. I'll esp miss my
angels...
Y must all good things come to an
end?

It's totally not worth it,
Zidane. To end ur international career wif an ugly red card. All coz of the repeated taunting and agitation by a scumbag.
Despicable Materazzi. Despicable.
Well, at least u still have ur
Golden Ball Award. I hope that cheers u up a little. U've been an
inspirational player.
The most
undeserving champion in the whole of World Cup history. That's
Italy in the words of my brother. I couldn't
agree more. They've perfected the art of
foul play. Nice. When u can't win an Oscar by diving and holding ur head (or any other body part) and moaning in pain, try to
agitate ur opponent. Curse his family, make all sorts of racist remarks. And there, the World Cup will soon be in ur hands.
If it were me, i'll juz aim for that b******d's privates. Imagine if it's
Wayne Rooney instead! I think Materazzi will never be able to stand up again.

I'm in the transit mall now! At this cozy little haven called
The Oasis... There r so many comfortable armchairs, chairbeds (is there such a word?) and even
Osim massage chairs here! But they r all occupied lah... So sad... I came all the wae here hoping to give it a try! =(
France won, which is like so expected. Hmmm i must sae i take my hat off to
Zidane. He's realli li hai. Heard from radio this morning that he's being hailed as the best french player of all time... And he transformed the wae in which ppl play soccer... Sounds a bit exaggerating though. =X
It's
thurs already.
7 working daes to the end of PA. Hai. U can't understand how sad i am now... =( I must treasure all my
memories of this place, of all the people here... I must create more precious memories to keep wif me... I dun wanna leave.

Since it seems like whichever team i name will eventually be
eliminated (wah dun tell me i've Pele's powers), i shall name my fav team to win the World Cup...
Italy!
Stupid italy.

How can
Brazil lose to France? Wtf.
C'mon
Portugal, go ahead and thrash France on Wed. I'm counting on u.
I think
Germany will win the cup this time. How expected. *sigh*
Portugal trounced England! Unbelievable! My fav
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the final penalty! And they actualli made it to the semis even without
Deco around! Oh my god.
Ricardo is the man. Three perfect saves. Absolutely lovely.
Felt a bit sorry for
Beckham though. He juz had to end his (probable)
last World Cup match wif a premature exit and an embarrassing defeat. Yet he still had to be strong and to go ard consoling his teammates when they r all crying. Poor guy. Poor England.
Alrite kick
Italy out of the semis pls. Put England in. At least they do not rely on some
Oscars winner to collapse beautifully in the penalty box.
P.S: Actually, it doesn't matter which team gets through to the semis... They'll be killed off by Brazil anywae. Yes Brazil. Not Les Bleus.

And
Germany won. My brother is swearing away. I'm elated.
We din even get to watch the match coz we can't tune into the stupid Indonesian channel... All we could do is to rely on a live
radio broadcast and a lagged net broadcast. Well, better than nothing.
And the Argentinians showed the whole world how
unsportsmanlike they could be. Juz when i was feeling a bit sorry for them. Not any longer.
The weekend is officially here. My
8th week of PA is officially over. My heart is
sinking as each dae passes... Can all this not end so
soon?
